What is ERA-sage?

ERASAGE was an ERAnet, funded under the EC’s sixth framework programme, comprised of nine funding bodies from seven countries all of whom fund research into the ethical legal and societal aspects of Genomics. The project ran from 1 May 2005 to July 2007, and was comprised of the  following partners

  • Austria:  Ministry of Education, Science and Culture
  • Canada: Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council
  • Finland: Academy of Finland
  • Germany: Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), and Project Management Agency of the German Aerospace Centre (PT-DLR)
  • Israel: Ministry of Health, and Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development
  • Switzerland: Swiss Federal Office of Public Health
  • United Kingdom: Economic and Social Research Council

The three major objectives of the consortium were to

  • Step up the co-operation and co-ordination of research activities carried out at national level
  • Promote mutual opening of national and transnational research programmes
  • Build a platform of co-operation, which could be extended to several other European countries as well as to other fields.
